Creating New Portfolio Pages
Beginning in your second semester, you’ll create your own portfolio pages for each new CODES class and add them to your navigation.
Creating the Page
- Copy the contents of the eportfolio template (just the main body of the page).
- In your own eportfolio, add a new page. Title it “[Course] Class Portfolio” and paste the template into the page.
- Update your portfolio as usual, selecting your grade and adding in your goals. Make sure you save the page! Because you’re publishing a new page, you’ll need to hit that Publish button twice.
Updating the Navigation
- In your dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus in the left-hand menu.
- Select your new pages in the page list to the left of the menu. (If you don’t see them, you may need to click “View All.”) Check the boxes for the pages and hit “Add to Menu.”
- To add a new header item (to create the dropdowns), click on “Custom Links.” In the URL box, put a #. In the Link Text box, put your course number (e.g. CODE123). Click “Add to Menu.”
- To reorganize your menu, drag and drop the menu items wherever you’d like them. To create a dropdown, drag the sub-item underneath the parent item so that it’s indented.
- If you choose, you can remove your previous semester’s items from the menu, but don’t delete the pages! You’ll need the content in future semesters. As you move into your sophomore year and beyond, you can also choose to consolidate your two semesters into an”First Year” menu item.
- Make sure you hit “Save Menu” at the bottom of the page!
