CODES 220 Grade Contract

What concepts are you going to learn, or skills are you going to develop? How will you learn the content/develop the skill? What evidence will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? How will you and I assess the evidence of your learning/skills? 
(30%) Based on (4) Global Learning – Engage in readings and participate in class discussions on diverse worldviews, cultures, and experiences.  – Prepare for discussions on global issues. – Include 2-3 reflective pieces on global issues discussed in class.  – Research report: Introduction highlights topic significance (Rubric #2).  – Research report: Summary and reflections on issues (Rubric #6). – Attend and actively participate in at least 90% of classes.  – Submit weekly reflections on time with complete answers.  – Be prepared for 90% of class sessions.  – Achieve “Excellent” work on the research report (Rubric #2, #6). 
(50%) Based on (5) Information Literacy – Collaborate with research group to create a research question or hypothesis.  – Evaluate different sources for the research report.  – Utilize SIUE resources for proper reference formatting. – Research report: Research question (Rubric #3).  – Literature review and analysis (Rubric #4).  – Reference page (Rubric #7).  – Annotated bibliography. – Produce “Excellent” work on the research report (Rubric #3, #4, #7).  – Score “Excellent” on pre-assignments, including annotated bibliography. 
(10%) Based on (3) Ethical Reasoning – Recognizes multilayered ethical issues and the cross-relationships among them within Braiding Sweetgrass – Reflections, written responses to prompts given in class, Jigsaws – Completion of all the items listed in the evidence section 
(10%) Based on (10) Quantitative Literacy – Participate in class lectures and exercises to learn data analysis.  – Analyze various data sources for the research report. – Research report: Proposed experiment (Rubric #5). – Deliver “Excellent” work on the research report (Rubric #5).
