REFLECTION #1

FIRST MOBOT VISIT OF THE SEMESTER.

Reflecting on our recent visit to MOBOT and our meeting with their partners, I gained valuable insights into how different approaches can enhance visitor experiences without losing our main focus as CODES which is making the real story known. Observing their methods and tools broadened my perspective on how we can improve our projects by analyzing the successes they’ve had with their strategies.

One of the most interesting things to me was the diversity of techniques used to engage visitors. From interactive installations and signs to guided tours, each approach had its unique strengths and catered to different aspects of visitor engagement and also to different age groups wich is what I was more intrigued about. This variety highlighted the importance of adaptability and creativity in developing our own strategies.

I was particularly inspired by the potential to use their installations as a learning tool for our project. Understanding what has worked for them (both in terms of visitor interaction and educational impact) provides a solid foundation for us to build upon.

I would love to delve deeper into their data and insights. Getting access to concrete information about which tools and strategies have proven most effective would be incredibly beneficial to not just me but my whole research team. It could help us avoid potential pitfalls and implement best practices from the start, making our project more successful and impactful which is what we care the most about.

In considering which methods of interpretation best fit our research group’s work, I believe that interactive installations and guided tours are particularly promising. The ideas that me and my team came up with match these two methods and we want to dig deeper on how we can implement our project. However, a potential weakness that I can point out right now is that our project can be a little hard to develop and maintain but not impossible. Also, not all visitors may feel comfortable with or interested in interactive elements, which could limit our goal for some audiences.

Overall, the visit was not only informative but also energizing. The support and enthusiasm from the MOBOT partners for our program were encouraging. Their willingness to share knowledge and collaborate is something I deeply value and look forward to building upon as we advance our project.
