Teaching Hard History

First of all, I would like to emphasize that the information that we can find on this podcast might be highly valuable in case we end up implementing the idea of teaching a little bit more about slavery to the younger generations.

The main claim of the creators is to highlight the importance of teaching hard history (Slavery), in elementary school classrooms as well as clarify the myths and providing the teachers the right knowledge to address this complex subject.

By listening to the argument, I can tell that they are trying to demonstrate why is a need to incorporate slavery into education.

They talk to the intended audience (educators) about strategies for them to navigate the challenges of talking and teaching about such a delicate subject like the history of American slavery.

This article helps us to understand the misinformation that we have been dealing with for many years and how it is important to start teaching the truth and to dispel the myths about Slavery as well as to spread awareness on the topic.

Hasan Jeffries is involved in the teaching hard history initiative. His goal is to promote more comprehensive information and give an accurate understanding of slavery. He mainly focuses on recognizing the contributions of enslaved people.

This source is important because it shows the pros of teaching hard history to the younger generations, the importance of talking about different perspectives, providing educators well prepared to talk about these topics and hand them useful and reliable tools to teach this challenging subject.

This podcast serves as a valuable resource for us to learn more about how we can deal with this information but also for those educators seeking guidance on teaching Slavery and emphasizing the historical importance that this has.
