While I was doing my spatial analysis lab I quickly realized what my life was going to be like as a college freshman with no car. Although I don\u2019t have a car I also take the bus back home on the weekends or I use Uber which gets very expensive. The daily pass for the bus is only $3, which is the only pass that I use. I looked up different locations outside of my campus to see the distance between the two. Walmart is 9 minutes away in driving distance and 1 hour and 16 minutes walking distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Luckily, Walmart has delivery now which is great for us college students who don\u2019t have a vehicle and need to purchase groceries and other personal needs. There are a lot of food options on the outside of our campus such as McDonald’s, Wendy\u2019s, Applebees, Texas Roadhouse, Sonic, Starbucks, etc that are about 5-10 minutes away from campus. This also creates a good advantage because students who want to utilize other food options besides the food options we have on campus can take the bus or walk. My experience as a freshman without a car was a disaster at times. I have spent lots of money catching Ubers to work, dentist\/doctor\u2019s appointments, back home, events, etc. During my fall semester, I had to go to physical therapy, my mom would take me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then, I got braces and had to catch an Uber the dentist’s office isn’t that far from campus, but the money will still add up because I would catch an Uber from campus and back to campus. Uber\u2019s range from $10-$40 for me per ride depending on the distance and time. I can say if I had a bike campus life would have been so much better for me. I utilized my time in this lab to look at the distance from campus to other locations that I would be utilizing because the distance between the two affected me as a college student with no car. It made it harder for me to just get up and be able to go somewhere else because I had no reliable transportation. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
