My name is Arthur Clay Garrett III, and I’m from Edwardsville, IL. I’ve moved from different cities throughout Illinois, but I’ve found my way back home. My major here at SIUE is History. I love studying History and hope to teach it! My expected graduation year is 2029. And I’m an honorary B-More native #FlockRavens Flock

Moving around Illinois allowed me to attend private and public schools. I had proximity to people of diverse backgrounds, talents, experiences, and financial statuses. I tried to connect with others by making them laugh and being the “mood lifter”. Nowadays, I keep to myself and try not to make any waves, but I’m good with people, so speaking and interacting don’t make me anxious.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m a History major. I’m not declared in any specific area of History, but my favorite historical themes are the Medieval Christian period and feudal Asian history. The beliefs, clothing, Art, and architecture of these times are my “eye catchers” and always fascinate me. I enjoy viewing the poetry or written accounts of people living during these times as well.

During my Junior and Senior years of college, I plan to have more than 8 schools researched and visited. Secondly, I wish to have at least 4 or 5 principals who are interested in my skillset and possibly offer me a full-time position at their institution. I’m motivated to do as much schooling as possible to become the best version of myself. This is because I want to be the best educator for my students.
