In this TED talk, Chimamanda Ngozi explained the meaning of a short story. She talks about her life in Nigeria and how nice it was there. But she also talks about how she started reading very young. Most things she would read were American lifestyle books which made her think everybody has the same kind of story until her mom showed her somebody just like them. She then realized that everybody has a different story and some are one-sided.
This TED can play a huge role in how we research because typically when people are doing research it takes a lot of time because most times history is one-sided. When researching, we have to dive deep to get certain answers we may want. But we also have to remember that a lot of information we may collect could be one-sided or even false. For example, when talking about the plants in the garden there are different stories behind each plant so it’s important to get both sides of the story to tell to the public.
My name is Britney Lewis When I was younger people viewed me as this bubbly little girl who knew how to say how she felt and was always willing to help and filled with joy. When I started elementary I was very talkative up until my 8th-grade year. Things started to happen in my life…well things were already happening but I got to the age where I could understand what was going on. Highschool came I wasn’t the same Britney in every aspect. I started to view things a lot differently, and I wasn’t as talkative. I started being more distant towards people and I even would push people away that I shouldn’t have. There would be times I would come to school and just cry and my teachers and other staff would be confused/ concerned but I would never say I would just say “I’m fine” or “It’s just one of those days”. But throughout my high school years, I stayed with good grades I ran track, and I was the captain of my POMS team (dance) and still made people laugh even when I wasn’t feeling the best. Now in College, i’d rather not open up about a lot of things. This shows that everybody will always have a different story or view you differently than others.
