My journey in Codes has been a rollercoaster to say the least. I have battled with lack of motivation and procrastination throughout the entire semester. It’s been extremely hard to continue showing up for myself and doing the work, but here we are, and I’m proud to say that I have completed my first semester as a college freshman. I have learned so much about myself this semester. I’ve learned what time of day is the best for me to study. I’ve learned how long I can study without “burning out”. I’ve learned how much I need to study in order to prepare for an exam. I have also learned a great deal about collaboration. I’ve learned how valuable and productive collaboration is. I have learned that in collaboration, communication is extremely important, which has led to growth in my communication skills. Collaborating with my classmates has allowed me to see how beautiful it is to learn from someone else; how the people around me have stories to tell just as much as I do. Codes has taught me how important it is to gain perspective from others and how you can get so much more done, working with others than alone. Being able to share this experience with my peers is why I was able to continue showing up for class and doing my work. All in all I have gained organization skills, time management skills, balancing skills, and collaboration skills that I will continue to apply to my educational journey as well as my life outside of school.
