Goal 1 (25%)
Clearly outlining the boundaries and focal point of my research/research questions to ensure that research remains manageable and focused
The survey lab and the interview lab were helpful in practicing the skill of outlining boundaries and a focal point of my research. I feel that through coming up with questions and narrowing them to a specific research question helped me learn to have a not so broad topic and keep my research manageable.
Goal 2 (15%)
Using effective search strategies to find appropriate sources
The survey lab helped me to complete this goal. Being able to find sources that related to the research question I created showed that I learned the skill of using effective search strategies.
Goal 3 (25%)
Using quantitative data to support research/arguments and draw logical conclusions
The final video project helped me to practice using data to support my argument and the solutions in the video from the data collected is proof that I’ve learned how to use data to support my research and draw conclusions.
Goal 4 (15%)
Acknowledging and understanding the ethical issues and the complex web of variables connected to them
I feel that everything we’ve done in CODES up to now has helped me to learn how to understand and effectively address the complexity of wicked problems and the many variables connected to them.
Goal 5 (20%)
Using knowledge and skills while combining different viewpoints to address the interconnected nature of global challenges
I think the ethnography lab and the final video project has helped me in completing this goal. The ethnography lab helped me with assessing and asking questions about different viewpoints and perspectives that I may not have known to consider previously. The final video project has helped me to show that I have gained the knowledge and skills to research complex problems.
