I am from small class sizes, division, and country living. Where you stand out if you don’t know everyone in your grade. A community where there is separation because of choices made. A place that no one lives in town and your neighbor is around the country block. I drive 15 minutes to attend class and see the same people every day. No one attends college, instead they go to a family farm or into trades. Learning isn’t prioritized in a town with country living. As I attend SIUE I plan to grow my knowledge and prepare myself for a future career, while also having fun and meeting new people. My career goals involve being a construction manager for a large company and possibly starting my own construction firm. I expect to graduate in 2030 from SIUE with a bachelors in Construction Management. My hobbies consist of working out and going out with my friends and doing fun activities, like playing sport, but I also don’t mind staying in and watching a movie or playing fun games. I don’t believe I have overcome any obstacles just yet. Although I do have many obstacles that I will be faced with. I am a first generation college student from a very small town, I will have to overcome the stress of college classes and controlling my time management in order to succeed, lastly not letting college bring too much stress and still having the experience everyone wants.
