Spatial Analysis

I wasn’t in class during the time that we conducted the spatial analysis, however I was told that I could do it on the bus ride to the track meet. There are many things that go on during the bus ride. I was able to observe most of the athletes without them realizing what I was doing, which seems odd but if I were to conduct this analysis with them knowing what I was doing then their behavior could have changed.

I observed that most of the athletes had their headphones listening to whatever they are used to before a meet to get rid of the nerves or to hype them up. There were also athletes that were trying to sleep on the bus ride to get the long bus ride over with. Since the ride to the meet is the worst part of the meet they try to get rid of it anyway they could. There were also athletes that were working on homework or talking with teammates. These sights don’t seem to bother the other athletes since everyone has their own pre race plan. Everyone has been a track athlete for a long time which then the athletes have found out what works for them the best which led to their pattern.

All in all, my spatial analysis was very beneficial for me to see in person and take a step back to look at. I was able to compare what I do before a race and see what others do. I have since tweaked a few things about my pre race routine.
