Plumbing Permits

I chose the data set review of the plumbing permits of Saint Louis from March 23, 2024 to April 22, 2024. The only credited creator of this is the STL.gov website writing about this information. I have an idea on why the creators created the plumbing permit data. I believe that the data was compiled because it serves the workers of the city of STL. It would allow the workers to see how much each plumbing permit costs for certain parts of STL and or the size of the building. I have not been able to find how the information is being used.

As for the data on the excel sheet you can see many five different pieces of information about the plumbing permits. Looking at the spreadsheet I can see the address, the application date, application description, the days to issue, estimated project cost, and the issue date. I currently cannot find the description of the data set. Nothing in the excel spreadsheet describes why the data is chosen or how it was chosen. This proves a struggle for the individual that is trying to find information about the certain topic since there is no background information. I believe that the individuals that created the data are STL workers /  government officials trying to find the plumbing data in the certain STL region. This shaped the data tremendously because the workers could work in the selected area which proves a bias in the data. It won’t be a bias on the price or days to issue but the certain streets and communities. This data might be used for tallying what permits have already been completed by the workers. It could also be used for tallying up how much the city of STL has spent on plumbing permits. The information could be used for seeing if certain parts of the city have it worse or better than others. This data could be linked towards our MOBOT project because it is in the city of STL near the Botanical Garden. If the data is able to be brought up from the past it could show how the area around the Botanical Garden was before and after Shaw.

All in all, the data has shown some very good information and brings plenty of questions about the data. It could add some different pieces of information to make the data more clear than it is. The website that goes with the data has a map that shows the certain permits and the cost that you can click on to dive deeper into.
