Introduction
In general I think that I have gotten a bit better at communicating through text and group collaboration. I have enjoyed working in groups the few times we have including the final project. I know that this class has helped me in multiple ways both get accustomed to college work while also allowing me to learn about the process of individually going out of my way to complete said work.
Goal 1 (15%)
Applies understanding of world views for meaningful conversation
Both the video and the direct and indirect drivers help demonstrate this. The direct and indirect drivers activity had us as a group think of many different people to try and help people with this one overarching issue. The video is talking about hurricane Maria and its effects in Puerto Rico. We also read the book “Salvage the Bones” by Jesmyn Ward which talks about a made up family going through tough times before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina. Our group project also helps up further understand the struggles of these people all these years ago, which has certainly helped me gain a better understanding of the world around me. In the discussion posts I was able to bring up conversation by answering questions and asking questions of my own.
Goal 2 (30%)
Describe stuff clearly and give relevant info.
All digital projects and the drivers activity all display this. In digital project 1, I never got off topic and stayed on the things that effected me. In the video I do not go off topic and clearly show things relating to the article and hurricane Maria. I demonstrated the same skills during the Drivers activity. For the group project I was able to type out everything I needed to and it was understood by the rest of the group, demonstrating clarity and understanding by others. In the discussion posts I articulated my thoughts properly.
Goal 3 (10%)
Helps group stuff move forward in a productive manner
In the drivers activity I was able to give some important direct drivers and many indirect drivers, moving the assignment further. As for digital project 3, I have fully contributed my part of the project and has done my work in a timely manner.
Goal 4 (15%)
Works independently towards group work and meets deadlines for said work
The main group project that we have had this semester is the third digital project. I have done all of my work on time and my group members can confirm as we all have done all of our work on time and have not missed a deadline.
Goal 5 (30%)
Uses language that communicates meaning properly
In digital project one I made the proper adjustments and corrections as recommended by Dr. DeSpain, which shows proper language and communication. In digital project 2 I spoke in a clear way that the audience could properly understand. In digital project 3 I was able to relay my info and my part of the project to where anyone could understand. In the discussion posts I used words that showed what I meant in the way that I wanted to present my points and idea properly.
