Applying for scholarships
After receiving the C O D E S Scholarship, I wanted to broaden my search, looking into additional scholarships, advancing my educational opportunities, and letting my creativity in. Getting more involved in college helps me gain more experience applying for scholarships. For instance, since I joined a fraternity, I was able to discuss fraternity activities and why they help students become more involved in the community because I am all about everyone growing together and learning together.
Organizing my classes more effectively
I encountered numerous obstacles during the 2022 fall semester that prevented me from achieving my objectives. There were many things I had not been taught before entering the college environment, such as how to check grades and what the various campus insignia meant. I had planned my classes for 2023 in November and had a plan that was going to be classes I wanted to take and actually explore to see if they were suitable for me. At the time, I was new to everything and didn’t know how to research the classes that I truly wanted. I wanted to alter that during 2023. By doing this, I was able to create a list of the classes I will be enrolling in throughout the course of the next three years of my college career. Although some of these classes may change, I will be able to decide what remains and what departs because this is all about my classes.
Gaining proficiency in calendar event planning
I found it difficult to schedule events in my planner or calendar during the fall semester of 2022 because I had never done it before. In order to avoid falling behind and always be on top of things, I decided to take action in 2023 and make a commitment to schedule every event I might have throughout the month and be sure to add it to the calendar if anything unexpected came up. I found a ton of opportunities and moments through doing this, and I’ll keep doing it in the future.
