Welcome to CODES! This site is your ePortfolio, which you’ll use to document your learning throughout the program. This is how your instructors assess your work each semester, so it’s important to keep it up to date.
The ePortfolio Basics
In CODES, you’re graded based on the goals you set, along with some basic standards. Each semester, you’ll choose five goals from the list of student learning outcomes to work towards. You’ll set some tangible goals and describe what kinds of assignments you’ll use to work towards them. You and your professor will work together at the start of the semester to make sure your goals are achievable and aligned with the course.
Over the course of the semester, you’ll track and reflect on your progress toward those goals. In your eportfolio, you’ll collect artifacts — those are any kind of evidence that show how you’re learning and growing in a particular area.
At midterm and at finals, your professor will evaluate your progress, basing your grade on those artifacts and your reflections about them. It’s important to know that you don’t have to master every goal you set or do everything perfectly! Sometimes the best reflections come from things that didn’t go as planned. But equally, it’s really crucial to reflect thoughtfully and thoroughly so that your professor can make sense of how all the artifacts fit into a narrative of your learning during the semester.
