As a freshman in college, I was excited and nervous all at once. I had heard stories from friends and family about how college would change me, but I never fully understood what they meant until I experienced it myself.
One of the biggest changes I noticed was my newfound independence. I no longer had my parents or teachers hovering over me, telling me what to do and when to do it. It was up to me to manage my time and prioritize my responsibilities. I quickly learned that procrastination was not an option in college, and I had to develop a strong work ethic to stay on top of my coursework. This was shown a lot in my first semester where I had a lot to figure this out, it was an easy habit to overcome because it’s something that many students and even teachers fall victim to.
Another factor that caused change in me was the diversity of people and ideas on campus. CODES contributed the most to this with the wide range of different classmates that I had, I did have the opportunity to talk to many of them and listen to their amazing and new experiences. I had never been exposed to such a variety of perspectives and beliefs before, and it forced me to reevaluate my own values and beliefs. I learned to listen to others without judgement and to embrace the differences that make us unique.
As a result of these changes, I now have a clearer sense of who I am and what I want to do in life. I have decided to pursue a degree in psychology, as I am passionate about understanding human behavior and helping others. I want to use my education to make a positive impact on the world and contribute to the greater good.
Overall, my freshman year in college has been a transformative experience. I have grown in ways I never thought possible and have gained the skills and confidence to navigate the challenges that lie ahead. With growth there also comes challenges and I’ve had my fair share this year. Nevertheless I have persevered and keep working to overcome and road block that come into my path.
This is a project that I chose to take on after doing our Digital Project 2. We had to make a video for that project and I found it really interesting, and a little difficult. I didn’t want the fact that it was difficult stop me from trying to do better. The first time I faced many road block like finding the equipment and finding an idea that I was interested in. For this personal project I gave myself free reign on creativity and the motive was to learn something new in creating good content. I didn’t go into it blind, I conducted plenty of research online and even on social media from people that do this kind of thing on the daily.
