2024 – So far…

So far, during my first semester conducting analysis and working together with my Codes 120 Cohort I was able to significantly develop my intrapersonal communication skills while working aside my peers. I have mostly enjoyed to process of having a space to express opinions and go over interesting topics with individuals with varying but still relatable opinions. One thing that I have struggled with up until now is expressing my opinions with others as I tend to be more of a listener, however, I hope over the period of this second semester I am able to more effectively communicate in that aspect so people are able to better understand where I am coming from. A personal goal I feel like I have met and have been able to maintain over the period of this semester is that I have been able to clearly and effectively articulate my reasoning and logic on assignments such as source analysis and in my writings.

Coming to a close 2024

Goal 1 (2c – 15%)

Artifact 1: (SA 3)

Description:

I chose my third source analysis to represent my progression in this goal as I believe that the part three, “analysis” section of this artifact signifies how I highlighted multiple factors that contributed to this one wicked problem. These include problems with social justice as well as the main contributor the the problem being negligence through further analysis of the source.

Edits:

The source for this analysis was a motion picture, a documentary specifically this helped tell the story by providing audio visual details invoking stronger senses of pathos for views and to more accurately depict the scale of the problem at hand.

I believe this is a wicked problem as it is an ongoing crisis that the community must just over multiple hurdles to even begin on the path of finding a resolution as even the government condones a certain amount of toxic materials in community water systems.

Goal 2 (3b – 25%)

[“Recognizes multi-layered ethical issues and the cross relationships among them”]

Description:

I chose my third source analysis to represent my progression in this goal as I went over the array of social justice issue that play massive overarching roles in this wicked problem such as civil neglect and inhumane practice by government official or other bodies prolong this community crisis.

Goal 3 (20% – 13c)

I chose SA 4 for evidence of my progression in the completion of this goal. I believe the entirety of this analysis accurately signifies this goal, especially in the first paragraph where I articulate my options on the clarity of the source material.

Goal 4 (8c – 25%)

I chose a screen shot of the concluding statement of my CODES Final Presentation to represent my progression in this goal. Wrapping up on my presentation I believe I did well in briefly and clearly signifying the main point of my essay covering the breadth of what I covered; stating how everyone can be contributors to water retention efforts seeing as how I stated all of the different types of consumers and how they can better contribute along with other private businesses and corporations. I also go state at the very end how success in water retention efforts is a direct result of community engagement as highlighted in each section as I go over how each group could help contribute and already contributes and how both could expand and increase their efforts for a more sustainable world.

I chose this source analysis to describe my progression in this goal as I have a keen interest in I poetic literature and through my extensive analysis in this work I even came to find how it tied into other works we have read and the class and their similarities.

Coming to a close 2024


As the first semester has officially come to a close, I can surely say that my skills in team collaboration and critical thinking have definitely improved as I have worked with classmates to identify unique problems within communities and formulating solutions. Some things I have learned this semester is that there is always room for improvement especially when it comes to new topics and first time experiences. My first in person presentation has taught me that it is indeed not that deep and gave me the courage to get through my final at the end of this semester!
