Introduction
Since I joined the program late, It was a challenge for me to catch up while also trying to not fall behind and it made me have more confidence as far as my academics. Not only did it boost my confidence it also made me understand the importance of grace and that overworking yourself just makes the journey harder than it should be. I was able to set aside my strengths from my weaknesses and also ways to work on my weaknesses so that they later become my strengths. For this particular part of CODES, I do enjoy writing because it gives me the chance to express myself and my Ideas in various ways. As we make our way to the end of the semester I hope to maintain my strengths and improve my weakness, the weaknesses being my communication skills as well as my reading skills.
GOAL #1: Adopt life long learning skills (25%)
-To pressure knowledge and educational experience beyond the classroom-
During my visitation with JJKFAN and Heartlands, I was able to receive a lot of engaging information that centered around water infrastructures, their contribution to the surrounding communities, what their day to day consists of that I though was very interesting. I was also able to learn more about greenhouses and how they are able to withstand the different seasons.
GOAL #2: Oral Communication (35%)
-To use clear and organized patterns as well as become skillful at presenting content cohesively-
In my reflection 4 video I presented information to my target audience from point A to B. I made sure to touch bases on the 5w’s while staying on topic. In this video I made sure to start off by stating what the video will be discussing to let viewers know if this is a topic is something of their interest.
GOAL #3: Written Communication (40%)
-To be able to use language to skillfully communicate with clarity and influence-
My reflection 1 is an example of me being able to use my writings to skillfully communicate with clarity and influence because with explaining me how I will reach the goals that I set out for myself is my way of ensuring the reader of me working towards the goals that I’ve set for myself.
GOAL #4: Critical and Creative Thinking (15%)
-Think outside of the box when it comes to the completion of my assignments and also in my approaches-
I’m my DP#1 it took me a minute to decide on where I wanted to go with my approach due to the majority of my past experiences being something very sensitive for me to touch bases on, I also wanted to find to create a good opening for my reader and also a opening that lets my reader know the direction of my essay.
GOAL #5: Reading (25%)
-Reads using an appropriate lens and can engage in a continuing dialogue within and beyond a discipline or a community of readers-
For reflection 4 we had to figure out who our target audience was and how we were going to get our message out to them. I decided that my target audience was going to be adults from the ages 24-40 and I was going to use instagram reels since Facebook and instagram work with one another; the videos from instagram reels would also pop up on people Facebook timeline. With this assignment I had to take what I read from the NYT article that I chose and find a way to relay the same message I received to my targeted audience.
