This is me working the camera at a Women’s basketball game. The moments of me being able to work the camera at a sports event while getting paid is a part of my journey because it shows I did grow to the next level. This is also special to me because I am only a freshman and they usually don’t give freshman’s these positions so early. I attended the Summer Success Program over the summer and emailed the athletic director Joe Pott asking him for positions or even to volunteer. He did not respond to me. I felt as if I was never going to be able to work for the production team. A SIUE Mass Comm staff member Thersa Pauli recommended me to him along with a few others and landed me a job with the SIUE athletic productions. I am so thankful for this opportunity. I am thankful because it taught me to be patience when wanting something and will teach me things I need for my future career. I also think about how just a year ago I was doing camera work for fun and now I get to do it for money.

I am currently the programming chair for the Campus Activity Board at SIUE. This is my coworkers and I at my S’mores giving event that I threw for the students. I got this position through a connection with a staff member. I originally applied for a different position but they suggested I would thrive better with CAB. I am thankful for this position in my journey because I get the chance to do things for and connect with my peers. This is special to me because I am the only African American female apart of this. I am learning a lot of skills I will carry along for future careers due to this job position.

This is me on the SIUE Instagram page in a reel promoting new merch. I got the opportunity to do this video through a connection with a staff member who told me where to sign up for it. Luckily out of all the people on the list, I was the one chosen. This video is now located all throughout the MUC and plays everyday. I did not know where they were going to put the video but I am happy with the result. This is special for me because I can now vision what I will look like on TV in the future of my career.
