Introduction
Throughout this semester, in my Codes 120 research class, I learned wicked problems require more than one solution and involve more than one thing contributing to them. One thing I enjoyed the most was collaborating with my classmates for the positive purpose of trying to fix something negative. One thing I struggled with was expanding my mindset from the idea of problems having one solution to solve them. A goal I think I have excelled at this semester is collaborating with others without any problems. A goal I want to continue developing during the second half of the semester is keeping my work clear and smooth.
Goal 1 (20%)
9c : Implement solutions to address multiple
contextual factor/putting forth the effort to solve various elements
within an environment
On the Miro boards, my partner and I came up with different elements within poverty environments. This allowed me to realize there are many different outcomes of wicked problems. One thing I might do differently is add more than three thoughts.
Goal 2 (20%)
13a: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of context,
the audience, and purpose/ showing a deep comprehension of the situation or setting, understanding who the writing is intended for, and knowing
the purpose behind the writing.
Taking notes for my assignment allows me to show a deep comprehension of the situation or setting, understand who the writing is intended for, and know the purpose behind the writing. I can break things down and section out what is important to know about the information being provided. One thing I would do differently is section out the questions I wrote to the side with their answers.
Goal 3 (20%)
8a : Use clear organizational patterns and present content
cohesively /arranging my information in a logical order that keeps the reader engaged and ensures a smooth and coherent flow.
In my source analyses, I arrange my information in a logical order that keeps the reader engaged, and ensures a smooth coherent flow. I answer the question provided by the worksheet while also stating the key points to know. For example, in this source analysis, I organized things by the what the topic was that we were covering (wicked problems), importance of the topic, and why the topic is important to the audience.
Goal 4 (20%)
6c : Suspending judgment in interactions with people culturally
different than themselves/ accepting everyone within the group
no matter who they are or what they look like.
Here in the messages, I am reaching out to my discussion partner first. I am offering to send my discussion questions over to my partner first,to help encourage her to do the same. One thing I might do differently is to reach out on email.
Goal 5 (20%)
12b : Facilitating collaborators’ contributions by building upon their
contributions and noticing when someone is not participating and inviting them to
engage/working effectively with others’ ideas and when others
are not giving ideas, making sure they know their thoughts matter.
Here I am reminding my classmates about assignments that are due and approaching. By doing this I am letting them know that their contribution in class and on their assignments matters. One thing I would do differently is be more professional with announcing the situation and using the correct grammar.
