Introduction

Throughout the semester in my Codes 121 course I learned to analyze readings more efficiently. One thing I enjoyed the most was getting closer with my cohort. One thing I struggled with was procrastination. One skill or goal I think I excelled at is informing my classmates about things that needed to be done. One skill or goal I want to continue developing during the second half of the semester is analyzing things more efficiently.

Goal 1 (20%)

-Implement solutions to address multiple contextual factor/putting forth the effort to solve various elements within an environment

Assignment : Photo Essay

Throughout the presentation, I took pictures and wrote captions for many different types of small communities within a big community. This allowed me to notice and think about how many things around me contribute to one thing to make it happen, whether positive or negative. If only one thing happened within the community, it wouldn’t be a community because everyone wouldn’t feel included in the different ways that specifically work for them. One thing I would do differently is help make things more clear on what specific community I am talking about.

Goal 2 (20%)


-Demonstrate a thorough understanding of context, the audience, and purpose/ showing a deep comprehension of the situation or setting, understanding who the writing is intended for, and knowing the purpose behind the writing.

On reflection number one I took my time to think about my goals and why I wanted them. While writing I also thought about my audience and why they should care about my goals. Throughout this assignment, I also used more efficient vocabulary to show my effort and comprehension of the assignment.

Goal 3 (20%)

-Use clear organizational patterns and present content cohesively/arranging my information in a logical order that keeps the reader engaged and ensures a smooth and coherent flow.

On assignment Dp #1 I was informing my audience about my move from one town and school to another and informing them about my experience. However, I did not tell my audience why. Dr.Despain gave me feedback and I changed my essay to add the “why” it happened in there. Changing my essay allowed me to see my essay flow better to help my audience to understand and answer any questions they would have. Next time I am going to ask myself, did I answer the “why?” beforehand so my audience doesn’t have to.

Goal 4 (20%)

-Suspending judgment in interactions with people culturally different than themselves/accepting everyone within the group no matter who they are or what they look like

On our photo essay group project, I wanted everyone to feel included and as if everything they put forward mattered. My team and I all contributed different ideas and seeing that made me happy. I wanted to express my feelings with my group to make them aware that I was grateful for their thoughts.

Goal 5 (20%)

-Facilitating collaborators’ contributions by building upon their contributions and noticing when someone is not participating and inviting them to engage/working effectively with others’ ideas and when others are not giving ideas, making sure they know their thoughts matter.

Here I am reminding my group members what is need for them to contribute to our group project DP#3. I could have chosen all the points and divided them evenly but I wanted my group members to have say in watch was going to be presented. I also wanted to work as a team to all contribute the same and help keep them on track.
