Write about a goal you achieved and how you did it

While I was in highschool I struggled with my GPA. I had recently lost my father at the time and I lost pretty much all emotion. This all happened at the same time I was trying to apply to college and my GPA had dropped to a 2.8 so, I couldn’t receive the full grant.
I got admitted to a scholarship program here at SIUE and I thought things would get better. I had no idea how far I would get thrown in the ringer. From the start of this program I knew it would be rigorous and slightly tasking. I had full confidence in myself before starting and was on a better note with the passing of my father. I started the first day of class and my teacher said, “ I’m going to warn you now, this course is probably going to be the hardest one you have taken”. She was right but it wasn’t the work that made this course difficult. It was the teacher.
She made this course very difficult for me because of her teaching style. Fast forward through the semester I ended up with a 2.6 GPA and my scholarship minimum was 2.5. This really impacted me for many reasons but the main reason was having no support. You can literally get help with anything else except for your GPA. The feeling of failing is so crushing to me. So I started really focusing on my grades after this happened. I’ve only received one B(two point’s off from an A) after this class and you can say she shaped me to focus more than I’ve ever focused. I say the discrimination I felt in every class reminded me to not be what people thought I was.
