Hello, my name is Julez Hill, but everyone calls me JuJue. I am a sophomore at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, studying Graphic Design with a minor in Photography. I am a student in Community-Oriented Digital Engagement Scholars, otherwise known as CODES. This program is dedicated to solving wicked problems and engaging in the community through research methods. I am working with my group to get an understanding of water infrastructure, housing problems, and other solutions to help the people of Cahokia Heights. Being from East Saint Louis and living in Cahokia Heights for a while, I know the struggles the city faces and the issues that haven’t been solved. My goal is to continue community work outside of college and be around like-minded people wanting to help the black community. It does really take a village to finish something, but it takes one person to take the first step.
