Who am I?

Hi! I’m Lyric Howard. I have moved over 12 times so honestly; I could not say where I’m truly from.  I’ve spent the last five years in Moline, which is also known as the Quad cities. To truly know me is to know this quote “You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness, but still, like air, I’ll rise. Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I’ve got diamonds at the meeting of my thighs” (Maya Angelou)? This quote has been what I depend a lot of my life on. I want to rise in times of struggle and dance as if no one is watching. I want to make an impact on SIUE while I am here. One of my biggest missions is to make Black women feel seen and heard in our community. I also plan on majoring in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science, Math, and Cyber Security. I want to eventually have my face all over the Tech industry so people that look like me know they can also achieve their dreams. I’m expected to graduate in 2028. I love to write poetry. It helps me express my feelings if I write them in a way that only I truly understand. I also love reading and going on hikes. Connecting with nature always makes me feel one with myself, and I love a good playlist. Music is a connection to the soul it also helps that my name is a big part of music. I’m extremely excited to grow in Codes and hopefully make an impact during the journey.
