When I think of a black women I think of a tree<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strong brown and beautiful <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A tree that gives nutrients from her branches<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A tree who roots run deep into the earth <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A tree who soil helps the earth go round<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I also see the way people take advantage of the tree<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They take her fruit with no appreciation for how long it took to grow<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They uptake her roots without even giving credit to her beauty<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They cut her down and expect her to continue to grow <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I think of myself as a tree<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I see the tree from Charlie Brown<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I feel weak at my core and limping over from expectations <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I feel my roots are not as deep as those of my sister trees<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I feel the nutrients from my branches are sour to those who taste<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My trunk often weeps syrup instead of having a tough exterior <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I realized if I was cut down I\u2019m not sure if I could grow back <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expectation of my trees are intense<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But yet they still stand and conquer<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They still give the earth the soil it needs <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am not that strong of tree<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I also wished I was a strong as those other generous tree<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I than realized i\u2019m stronger than I ever thought I would be but I not as strong as I wanted to be<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I may continue to grow as a tree one day I may accomplish the strength that I wanted but I can not forget the strength I have gathered <\/p>\n\n\n\n
