Reflection 7
“We tend to slip out of togetherness the way we slip out of the womb, bloody and messy, and surprised to be alone. And clever-able to learn with our whole bodies the ways of this world.”. This quote stood out to me because of how detailed and how realistic this quote feels. I believe this quote shows the adaptability that humans have, and their desire to keep overcoming obstacles. I belive this to be true because the quote references babies coming out of the womb and finding them throughout life. The author also believes that small things matter and eventually turn into big stuff after growing. She also references science's fictional behavior and how beliefs shape the future. I also found it intriguing how the author believes animals play a part in our world just like people do. Brown states “A mushroom is a toxin-transformer, a dandelion is a community of healers waiting to spread ... What are we as humans, what is our function in the universe? “. She questions our real purpose or contribution to the world, brown believes that our core function is love. One idea we can to make our maps transformational projects is understanding our function as humans and other items' purposes. For example understanding the purpose of damn, rivers, animals, and bridges will help contribute to our understanding of why the Mississippi does what it does and how we can help it.
