First-Week Introduction

I choose these 5 goals because I wanted to practice my analysis skills. One assignmet I am most excited for this semester is the analysis over the the article about chatgpt. The use of AI in schools has always interested me so getting the chance to explore that topic in a class is very exciting. Some strategies I plan to use to set me up for success this semster is underlining important facts and quotes in the article. I feel like this helps pull out information when responding to questions especially for the reflection assignments..

Midterm Introduction

During this semester I struggled with understanding scholarly articles that were challenging to read. During the second half of this semester I want to get better at anotating articles and making sure I’m to respond to questions completely.

Final Introduction

[Now that the semester is over, use your introduction to reflect in-depth on your process. How well did you meet the goals you set out to meet? What did you learn that surprised you? Focusing on your goals for this class, what do you want to remember to take with you into your future courses? What strategies can you use to continue developing toward these goals?]

I met these goals. somewhat, I could of done a lot more during in class discussions. In the future I want to be more prepared to class and not be afraid to speak. I was prepared for class just not enough to belive i can articulate myself in front of my classmates in some of the articles that i didn’t understand. some strategies I can use to help me are discussing with a peer before class, and reaching out to the professor if I’m confused

Course Goals

Choose five goals from the CODES Student Learning Outcomes that you’d like to work toward. Choose goals that are relevant to the scope of this course, select artifacts/examples based on activities assigned for this course, and explain characteristics in a way that illustrates how your artifacts/examples demonstrate your progress toward the goal.

Goal 1 (20%)
Based on 7a: Explores a topic in-depth, yielding a rich awareness and/or little-known information indicating intense interest in the subject.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
-Analyzing text
-Annotating Readings
-Participating in class discussions
-annotations
-Top 5
-Reflection
-Final Project

-Provides meaningful questions and responses during class discussions
-Comes to class prepared to discuss

This artifact is top 5, I included this as a artifact because I asked many open ended questions that can lead to discussion.

This artifact is article annotation that I really struggled on and managed to put a response together after meeting with Dr. Bradley. I annotated the article and underlined important phrases in the article and I managed to come up with this summary, that demonstrates my knowledge of this article

This artifact is a reflection that I believe be one of my better reflections. I believe this because I answer the question completely with multiple answers and connected it back to code with working the community

Goal 2 (20%)
Based on 11c: Reads using an appropriate lens and can engage in a continuing dialogue within and beyond a discipline or a community of readers.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
-writing down questions I have while reading
-staying engaged in class discussions
-top 5
-Article annotations
-In class discussion question answers

[For each 5% of effort you assign to your goal, provide at at least one example or artifact that demonstrates your learning process and shows how your made progress toward meeting that goal this semester (You would need four examples if the goal was worth 20% of your grade). Show how you have improved over time, what methods you took to grow, and talk about what you still plan to do in the future. ]

This artifact is one of the pages of my article. I annotate important text and quotes to later help me in article anotations and reflections. Doing this helps me summarize and analyze articles to help understand them better.

Goal 3 (20%)
Based on 13a: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of context, audience, and purpose.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
-Taking extra time to proofread my writings
-format of writing is intentional and has a purpose

-top 5
-article annotation
-reflection
-Final Project
-information is well formatted

This artifact is from my final project I did on #save water. I demonstrated my understanding of audience when I presented because I did’nt read off a slideshow I was connected with my audience during my presentation

This article is a top 5 I choose this to be one of my articles because I connected personally to this questions being a student and a future teacher I had more background knowledge while reading this. Using this knowledge i constructed open ended questions .

This artifact is from a reflection I did on data cleaning

Goal 4 (20%)
Based on 13c: Uses language to skillfully communicate with clarity and fluency.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
-Participate during reading discussions
-proof reading my writing making sure I answer the question properly
-reflection
-article annotation
-Top 5
-Final Project
-Writting is grammatically correct
-Answering reflection questions completely

This is artifact is from the final presentation I did on #save water. During this presentation, my slides were organized and minimal. In addition I didn’t read off a script I connected with the audience.

This top 5 artifact challenged my ability to ask questions adn truly understand what I was reading. It was one of the first top 5’s I did and required me to re read and analyze what this chapter was telling me.

Goal 5 (20%)
Based on 5c: Responsibly integrates research and demonstrates full understanding of the ethical and legal restrictions on information use.

What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal?
-Complete Citi training
-complete assignments and activities related to research and information literacy
-find a survey assignment
-citi training certificate
-Articles from the library day
-Data set review assignment

This artifact is my completion report of citi training, proving my understanding of ethithical and legal restrictions

This artifact is the reflection part of my find my survey assignment. During this assignment I had to find and cite a scholarly and non scholarly surveying. While researching I had to also make sure both of these cites had credible and relevant information
