CODES221 Reflection 5
After completing the water fair at JJK Foundation, we met with our partners, Zach and Curly, to reflect and brief on how the water fair went. They were impressed with how prepared our lessons were and how flexible we were due to time and other factors. During the meeting, we talked about student behavior, lesson plan debrief, and the experience overall. Overall, I thought the students’ behavior was good, their kids, so I expected them to get slightly off task at times. As a group, we’ve only visited JJK a few times, so the kids don’t know us on a personal level. Even with that factor, the students respected us and wanted to learn. Since my lesson had an akinesthetic learning approach, it was easier for students to grasp my information while still paying attention. One aspect of my lesson that Zach specifically complimented me on is how my lesson not only engaged the students with science materials, but it also allowed them to write and build upon their comprehension skills by thinking of adjectives. While explaining the worksheet, I made sure to go over good examples of adjectives just in case some students didn’t know what it was, since everybody is at different levels in their learning.
