During the last semester, I have worked on analyzing documents we have read in order to discuss them in class, as well as write reflections on them. I have also talked in my research team about how the things we have read about have related to our research topic or any work we’ve done in the past. I also spent the time figuring out what I wanted my two products to be, and getting them done. I chose to do a presentation about tips or advice to produce a successful after school program, as well as an essay discussing the benefits of being involved in an afterschool program. In our research team, we meet separately once a week on Thursday nights so that we can all work together on meeting the deadlines for our products or work on any other work we have for the class that week. Over the semester we collaborated to meet deadlines together, work on our team website, and work on our team presentation to show others what we have created, why we created it, and some of the steps that were involved in creating it.
Goal #1
Global Learning: Applies knowledge and skills to implement sophisticated, workable solutions to address complex global problems using interdisciplinary perspectives
My evidence for this goal is going to be the reflections we have completed for class during the semester. I will use this evidence because having different perspectives and knowledge thinking about the same problem will help multiple people understand the problem based on their personal experiences.
My second piece of evidence for this goal will be my first product. I will use this as evidence because it shows how I took knowledge and skills and used it to help other people out and tell them my experiences that come along with running an afterschool program.
Goal #2
Information Literacy: Accesses information using effective, well – designed search strategies and appropriate sources
As evidence for this goal, I am again going to point toward the link for my reflections. I also would like to reference the log in sheet for the IRIS Center, I just do not have a picture for it. I am using this as evidence because it shows me and my team working together during and outside of class in order to reach our deadlines together.
Goal #3
Problem-Solving Skills: Constructs insightful problem statements with evidence of relevant factors
As evidence for this goal, I am going to link the presentation I made for my first product. There are slides where I talked about what problems we came across and what we did to overcome them. I am using this as evidence because it shows that we had problems in our research and I talked about those problems and what solutions we came up with . If anyone ever sees our slideshow they know what some of the possible outcomes are.
My second piece of evidence is going to be the second product I made, which includes the essay I wrote about the benefits for adolescents who are involved with after school programs. I am choosing to add this in as evidence because it shows how I was able to construct problem statements with evidence of relevant factors.
Goal #4
Quantitative Literacy: Uses quantative information to support arguments and draw logical conclusions
For this goal, my evidence is going to be my reflections again. I will use this because it will show that I have been attending class and paying attention and figuring out how what we do as a group in class relates to our research team.
For my second piece of evidence, I am going to reference the link I listed for my second product. I chose this as evidence because it will show how I used quantitative information to support arguments and draw logical conclusions.
Goal #5
Collaboration: Helps collaboration move forward by articulating the mertis of alternative ideas
As evidence for this one, I am going to once again use my first product to show what we worked on as a group. I will use this as evidence again because the best way for me to show how I’ve collaborated is by using that product, until I can start taking notes in class to show.
As a second piece of evidence, I am going to use the google slideshow we made in class for our final presentation that we presented at the CODES Showcase.
