Introduction
During the last eight weeks, I have worked on analyzing documents we have read in order to discuss them in class, as well as write reflections on them. I have also talked in my research team about how the things we have read about have related to our research topic or any work we’ve done in the past. I also spent the time figuring out what I wanted my two products to be, and getting the first one done. I chose to do a presentation about tips or advice to produce a successful after school program. In our research team, we meet separately once a week on Thursday nights so that we can all work together on meeting the deadlines for our products or work on any other work we have for the class that week.
Goal #1
Global Learning: Applies knowledge and skills to implement sophisticated, workable solutions to address complex global problems using interdisciplinary perspectives
My evidence for this goal is going to be the reflections we have completed for class so far in the semester. I will use this evidence because having different perspectives and knowledges thinking about the same problem will help multiple people understand the problem based on their personal experiences.
I do not have any notes from our in class discussion, but I will work on getting some and taking more before our final e-portfolio is due. This is also helpful because everyone in my research group has different majors and different passions so we all look at the issue from a different perspective and we have different solutions and ideas.
Goal #2
Information Literacy: Accesses information using effective, well – designed search strategies and appropriate sources
As evidence for this goal, I am again going to point toward the link for my reflections. I also would like to reference the log in sheet for the IRIS Center, I just do not have a picture for it. I am using this as evidence because it shows me and my team working together during and outside of class in order to reach our deadlines together.
Goal #3
Problem-Solving Skills: Constructs insigtful problem statements with evidence of relevant factors
As evidence for this goal, I am going to link the presentation I made for my first product. There are slides where I talked about what problems we came across and what we did to overcome them. I am using this as evidence because it shows that we had problems in our research and I talked about those problems and what solutions we came up with that way in anyone ever sees our slideshow they know what some of the possible outcomes are.
Goal #4
Quantitative Literacy: Uses quatative information to support arguments and draw logical conclusions
For this goal, my evidence is going to be my reflections again. I also listed that I would use notes from in class, but I do not have any so I will work on that before the next e-portfolio. I will use this because it will show that I have been attending class and paying attention and figuring out how what we do as a group in class relates to our research team.
Goal #5
Collaboration: Helps collaboration move forward by articulating the mertis of alternative ideas
As evidence for this one, I am going to once again use my first product to show what we worked on as a group. I will use this as evidence again because the best way for me to show how I’ve collaborated is by using that product, until I can start taking notes in class to show.
