CODE 121 Portfolio

Introduction

During these last eight weeks, I have learned the importance of time management, I have learned how to analyse what we read which is something that I have tended to struggle with in the past. I have enjoyed some of the discussions we have had in class regarding stuff we had read for class, I liked hearing how people felt about the articles and being able to hear other peoples perspectives and feelings in ways I did not think of. I struggled with remembering certain reading and some assignments especially if there was an exam in one of my other classes, but I’m getting better with making a to do list everyday and checking the syllabus frequently. I think the part I’ve probably excelled at the most would be getting assignments done mostly on time, sometimes I struggle with turning them in on time but I’m pretty good at getting stuff in on time. Something I want to continue developing is my ability to ask questions when I am confused. Whenever I’m in class and I have a question I always ask it but if I’m outside of class and on my own I almost never ask it because I get nervous to reach out in order to get an answer.

Goal 1 (10%)

8.b: choosing words that work and fit into whatever the assignment is:Use the language and grammar suggestions they offer

I am including screenshots of my first digital project before I revised it and after I revised it so that it sounds better and the words fit into the paper more.

The pictures with the green background are what the digital project looks like on my site with the revisions made

Goal 2 (10%)

2.a: explaining the situation without bringing unnecessary information into it: Find different people who are willing to read it and see if they think any of it is just taking up space

I’ve added pictures of comments made by peers when they were asked to review my writing, each screenshot is one person’s comments

Goal 3 (40%)

5.b: find appropriate sources and information in a scholarly way: Find articles that seem to be neutral about a situation and doesn’t involve any bias

I have added a picture of the link for the NYTimes article I have been using, I however have not taken any screenshots of other articles I’ve been using from Google Scholar so I was not able to add them on.

Goal 4 (30%)

9.b: have multiple ways to fix a situation in case one doesn’t work out: Ask a peer if they have any suggestions and take into account what someone else may do in they situation

Unfortunately for this one I don’t have any screenshots to add on but I have reached out to multiple classmates if I had been confused on an assignment and needed them to explain something

(add more goals here as necessary)

Goal 5 (10%)

13.d: word choices fit with the writing, but they aren’t complex: Don’t use basic words but don’t use words that exaggerate too much

For this goal I added a screenshot of a comment I had made on one of the discussion posts that had been shared
