{"id":122,"date":"2025-08-22T13:44:48","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T13:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolio.siue.edu\/michelle-catalano\/?page_id=122"},"modified":"2026-02-27T04:48:53","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T04:48:53","slug":"five-whys","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eportfolio.siue.edu\/michelle-catalano\/five-whys\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Whys"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-38b928ff6aab6c96469db47c32f1c68c\" style=\"color:#d11e1e\"><strong>This page in the WordPress project is where my FST 101 students will create their own answers to why they are in college.<\/strong>..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" id=\"fs-idm516542352\"><em>From Amy Baldwin, \u201cWhy College?\u201d in College Success (OpenStax, 2020)<\/em><br><br>&#8220;The following questioning technique called \u201cThe Five Whys\u201d that was originally created by Sakichi Toyoda, a Japanese inventor, whose strategy was used by the Toyota Motor Company to find the underlying cause of a problem.&#8221; While your decision to go to college is not a problem, the exercise is helpful to uncover your underlying purpose for enrolling in college.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" id=\"fs-idm487903344\">&#8220;The process starts with a \u201cWhy\u201d question that you want to know the answer to. Then, the next four \u201cWhy\u201d questions use a portion of the previous answer to help you dig further into the answer to the original question.
