First-Week Introduction
The assignments that make me the most excited for this semester might either be the reflections or the top 5 assignments. The assignment I feel like might be the most challenging for me might be the dataset review only because I’m not totally certain on how to fully review all the aspects of data. Strategies I wan to set for myself this semester for success are to always reach out for help when needed and use every resource here on campus.
Midterm Introduction
I learned a lot more regarding data sets than I have ever known before the first half of this semester. What I enjoyed the most this first half of the semester would simply just be our lecture time. I really like our lecture time because everyone is able is able to be their true selves and speak freely without being judged. A goal that I think I have excelled at meeting the most would be time management, and a goal I want to continue developing during the second half of the semester would be striving to get better at researching topics through scholarly sources.
Final Introduction
I feel like I met my goals. Personally this class lifted a weight of my shoulders with the stress of all my other classes. Being in the class was kind of like safe space, Dr. Bradley made our environment comfortable enough for everyone to be comfortable within themselves and work comfortably.
Course Goals
Choose five goals from the CODES Student Learning Outcomes that you’d like to work toward. Choose goals that are relevant to the scope of this course, select artifacts/examples based on activities assigned for this course, and explain characteristics in a way that illustrates how your artifacts/examples demonstrate your progress toward the goal.
Goal 1 (15%)
Based on (5B) CODES Student Learning Outcomes: Write out Goal in your own words
What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
Using adequate sources; like google scholar or google to access correct information about a topic. By searching key words and certain time frames about a topic, it will bring up not only current information but information close to topic. | Dataset Survey, Dataset review and Picture from Library Day: | Having a better understanding in ways to help my research. Also knowing how to conduct the start of my research. |

The second picture is based on my Find a Survey assignment where we had to distinguish whether something was a scholarly or non scholarly and how we were able to tell the difference. The third picture is based on my Dataset Review assignment that was based upon Dr. Bradley’s research. The first and second picture go hand in hand with each other because although on is about surveys, and the other one has words that helped with research; I had to use some of the same tools to find my end products.
Goal 2 (20%)
Based on (7C): Write out Goal in your own words
What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
Using what I know currently outside of class about certain topics can help me connect more with the work given in class. I will incorporate the already known knowledge with what I am starting to learn more about in class | Citi Training, Reflection 3, and Plagiarism training : | I will feel more confident during in class discussions because I will be able to fully make connections. |

The Citi Training screenshots are ethics training certificates. The reflection is also semi ethics based. The reflection is about the aircraft Challenger and the challenges faced upon takeoff. Although I didn’t pass the plagiarism training, it was mainly teaching about the forms of plagiarism and how to distinguish whether or not something is plagiarized or not.
Goal 3 (20%)
Based on (9B) Write out Goal in your own words
What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
I will always look at different prospectives of a problem. Always remembering that a problem doesn’t always have only one solution. | Reflections, library, and final project : | Possibly being able to look at a problem from a different angle based upon its different solutions. |

The first reflection was about how Chat Gpt is viewed from different perspectives and my opinion on chat gpt. The second reflection is about fieldwork vs controlled lab experiments in the research field. The third and fourth image show slides from my final project pertaining to #BLM.
Goal 4 (25%)
Based on (12C) CODES Student Learning Outcomes): Write out Goal in your own words
What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
I want to stay completely focused during class time. I also want to stay on my A- game in terms of turning all my work in on time. To stay on my A-game I will log when all my assignments are due. | Final project and planner entries, complete and incomplete assignments on bb, : | I will be less stressed about my this class and what all i have to do. |

The first three images are of planner entries. Writing my assignments in my planner help me stay organized with tests and homework assignments. I highlight my assignments when I complete them. The fourth image shows a study cycle given by one of my professors to better my study techniques. The sticky notes are there to keep me motivated when I feel down.
Goal 5 (20%)
Based on (13B)from CODES Student Learning Outcomes): Write out Goal in your own words
What will you do to learn the content/ develop the skill? | What examples will you add to the portfolio to demonstrate your learning? | What characteristics of the chosen examples demonstrate you have met your goal? |
I will make side notes about our reading on whether I am confused about a section, have questions, or simply just have opinions about the reading. | Top 5 Assignments, article annotations, final project, and potentially data set review : | I will have a better understanding of the readings assigned. |

The first three images show different Top 5 assignments. The Top 5 assignments are based upon my opinions, whether I’m confused about something in the story or passages. The third image is of an article annotation on the Gullah Geeechee.
