Before reading “A Most Magnificent Spectacle” I did research on the book it came from. I was able to gain background knowledge and information. The source overall was good and informational. It also made me look at water from a different perspective and the ecosystem differently, but most importantly the Mississippi River is different.
I learned much about the Mississippi River which I didn’t know beforehand. I enjoyed how the author described the river with detailed descriptions conveying how beautiful the river is. The description used gave the river character while also creating a visual and making illustrations in a way that gives the river a “face” The author showed the importance of the Mississippi River while also telling the history behind the river. The author starts off talking about the multiple names while also talking about who first traveled across it. I enjoyed how the author went through a timeline of things showing who and what the river endured over time.
Not only showing and describing the Mississippi as a river, but informing readers of its beauty, history, significance, and importance that lies behind it. After reading I realized the river had so much history behind it. Many events and situations occurred on or alongside the river, making The Mississippi River more than just a body of water. Which also made me realize how significant rivers are. The Mississippi helped with travel, transportation, expeditions, and more. The article gave a deep insight giving a better understanding of the impact of rivers and water.
