Introduction
During the first half of the semester, I learned about my strengths and weaknesses, but also learned how to improve my weaknesses and turn them into strengths. Overall I enjoyed every aspect of this semester, each assignment helped me build more knowledge and character. Coming into this semester a struggle for me was time management and communication. As time went on I overcame those struggles and I became more fluent in my communication. When it came to writing, emails, or conversations my fluency improved. I also learned how to prioritize tasks and assignments, while also practicing good time management, which was a major goal for me. Over time and going into the second half of the semester I want to continue developing better organizational skills and time management skills while learning how to become more engaged and understand the key concepts of CODES 121.
Goal 1 (25%)
5B: Information Literacy
Accesses information using effective, well-designed search strategies and appropriate sources.
For reflection 2 we had to access the information given to us in various visual essays and article pieces so we could reflect and analyze an individual piece of work. Searching through the series “Where We Are” shows how I can access information, while also using a reliable, appropriate, and educational source such as the New York Times to create reflection two. Next time, I can do more in depth research and further analyze the source and pieces of work I use. So, I can have more extensive knowledge and create a better reflection.
In Digital Project Three I had to access the information given to me to create a counter map. Using different sources and search strategies to do research I came up with the most informative coordinates and points for my map.
Goal 2 (20%)
8b: Oral Communication
Uses compelling, appropriate delivery techniques.
For DP1 we used multimedia, to tell a complex story reflecting on an event from our past. Throughout DP1 I had to use images to tell and deliver a story to readers and viewers. I used images that told a story behind them but also added significance to the story I was trying to tell. Starting with a good intro creating a compelling essay while also enforcing images to keep the audience engaged. Next time I can go into more detail and give more background information on events or images so I can deliver a better story to my audience.
Also, with Digital Project Two I had to make a video that delivered a story to readers and viewers. Using images and captions that were significant to the video and give background insight on the analysis.
Goal 3 (20%)
9c: Problem Solving
Implements solutions to address multiple contextual factors.
Reflection 3 shows how I implemented solutions to address multiple contextual factors. In reflection three there were multiple factors and questions that I had to answer in order to complete it. Analyzing the article and piece of journalism was a key factor in completing reflection three. The reflection shows how I was able to address and analyze multiple factors while also answering and solving strategies so I could create a good rhetorical analysis.
Goal 4 (20%)
12c: Collaboration
Work independently toward goals by contributing and meeting deadlines
My Photo Essay shows how I contributed towards the goals my group and I set to complete the project. While also working independently on the task given for the best outcome, so that the deadline can be met. In the photo essay, I had to independently take multiple pictures and edit them so the photo essay could come together as a whole. Working diligently so my group could meet the deadline while also having good photo shots and perspectives. This assignment helped me develop a new skill of photography and editing which later helped me down the line with DP2.
Goal 5 (15%)
13c: Written Communication
Uses language to skillfully communicate with clarity and fluency
In reflection 4 I was clear about my target audience, while fluently communicating what and how I will use different tactics for my audience. This assignment helped me with perspective and persuasion. It helped me learn how to communicate with an audience while fluently getting my claim and statement across.
