The results of the review indicate that digital storytelling has a positive impact on students’ speaking ability through getting the student to express their emotions in a safe environment, practice speaking through repetition, and improving confidence in their speech. Furthermore, digital storytelling involves using technology to facilitate learning, which lets students learn concepts at a quicker rate.

This information is useful in communicating that a big part of the digital storytelling process is developing a person’s speaking ability. This video is an example of digital storytelling in video form. From the beginning, it is apparent that one of the key characteristics of digital storytelling is that the product is highly edited, using visual aids and B roll footage throughout. This leads to a possible general rule – which is to always have someone speaking accompanied by a visual in the background. In addition, the images were all complementary to what the speaker is saying, which implies that a script should be written around the images that are set to be used. With this in mind, it is also important to follow the story as well, as helping an individual tell their own story is the idea of digital storytelling.
