CODE 320 Reflection 1

I believe that most of the challenge of our coming work will be in controlling the energy level of the kids as well as making them comfortable enough to share their stories. For the most part, the kids were fine, however, there were a few occasions when the room needed to be calmed down. That said, this shouldn’t be a huge issue if we can spot it quickly. On the bright side, most of the kids seem to be interested in some sort of video creation, with a few even having experience as well.

When it comes to creating a comfortable and safe environment, a lot of this hinges on time. It’s natural that they’re weary of strangers asking them to share some of their most personal stories with others, but I think that it can still be done, especially since most of the kids seem to get along well with each other. A few things that I could personally do to help with this issue is to encourage deeper communication during restorative circles and other activities.
