Goal 1: Critical and creative thinking 20%
While going through the first semester of college, I wanted to make sure that I developed the habit of evaluating my sources since this will help me in the long run.
Goal 2: Information Literacy 20%
I believe this goal works hand in hand with my first goal in developing an eye for a reliable source. Before citing a particular part for a source, I wanted to make sure that I had a good feel for the overall content of the article, so I would read the entire article to make sure I did not miss any key information regarding my subject. In addition to helping me throughout my CODES classes, these first two goals were skills I could easily apply in the real world.
Goal 3: Oral Communication 20%
One of the largest weaknesses I have always faced regarding my education is not being able to communicate some of my ideas as effectively as I could. To try and improve on this I practiced my presentations first with myself, and then I would do it with my family. For this goal, I still have a long way to go with improving, but I would also say that I am much better than I was when I had started the semester.
Goal 4: Collaboration 20%
Throughout the semester, I was given plenty of opportunities to develop this goal. There were countless times in any of my classes that I had to work with someone else or a group of people. I would always try to go out of my way to start communicating with any of my teams so that we could be as productive as possible. While working with groups, I came across a few situations where ideas had to clash, which also helped with critical thinking during the exchange.
Goal 5: Written Communication 20%
For this goal I wanted to make sure that not only were my assignments read by me, but I also wanted my peers to review the work I had done first. This always led to an error that the other person discovered that I did not. This is something I wanted to focus on since I plan to go to graduate school and peer reviewing articles is paramount.
