My name is TaKara Gilbert and I&#8217;m from Rockford, Illinois. During my time at SIUE I plan to get my bachelor&#8217;s degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology in 2027 and continue my education by attaining a master&#8217;s degree in Speech and Language Pathology specializing in Pediatrics. My career goal is to be a travel SLP and work with children all over the world. I spend my time making memories with family and friends, journaling, and indulging in self-care. The adversity I&#8217;ve faced and still face is being a first-generation college student, trailblazing on my path has had many obstacles, yet created so much opportunity to thrive and succeed.
