Growing up what drew me to mentorship is the lack of guidance i had as far as peers. I grew up as an only child and although my parents were very involved in my life it wasnt the same as having siblings. I have always been observant and the way i got into mentoring was based off connections. Both my aunt and uncle started their own programs when I was younger and I started off just visiting and getting a feel for the environment before deciding to become a member. I plan to shape my products as a welcoming environment so even those that are introverts feel involved and not excluded. My goal is not to make the best paper or video but to touch the hearts of others through cultural connections, helping those that feel disconnected find a way to connect. Growing up in the suburbs I often felt disconnected from my cousins in the inner city , but we all went through the same mentorship program which allowed us to form connections we didnt know we had. I want to make sure that people know that it doesnt matter where you come from or how you got here , but what matters is what you plan to do now. Going through my own trial and errors with mentorship , I plan to use the products as a guide and inspiration to show people it isnt always glorious but it is worth it.
