First-Week Introduction

There are many things that I would like to achieve this semester! I hope to gain a stronger ability to critically think about material regarding the research we conduct. Along with this, I want to increase my skills in problem-solving, as it comes to addressing areas of need and trouble-shooting.

Midterm Introduction

For the midterm, there are many things to say how the part of the semester went. It can be said that overall it went well within this class. I was happy with the quality of the majority of my work because I incorporated my own thoughts and findings. With that being said, I was able to apply the material that I’ve learned in this class to my others. Specifically, units like the coding methods and survey construction. At times, I struggled due to the balance of taking macro economics while maintaining the extra weight to finish assignments for my group in the other research class.

Final Introduction

Now that the semester is over, I’ve learned a considerable amount of information that will help guide my research in the future. I proud to say that I haven’t missed class and while being able to balance the workload of each of my classes. Despite having to in-counter a work environment that wasn’t ideal while trying to be a good student, it pushed me to ensure that I studied the material. With this, my growth regarding research has grown tremendously. Honestly, before this class, I didn’t have any ideas regarding the methods of research, however, I was able to gain a deeper level of this understanding as it relates to our surveys we conducted this year. This brings me to the strategies that I hope to take away from this class. One of the strategies is to data clean to ensure more accurate results of data. Data cleaning is a method that I hope to practice more, because it makes sure the work is credible as it supports the purpose for research. Another strategy is to remember the different types of interviews. This is important to me because there will be more data to conduct in the future. Knowing how to identify which interviews to conduct will save me time while ensuring that my research reaches its objective. Ultimately, I enjoyed this class, and hope to put my knowledge to use within the coming years!

Course Goals

Critical & Creative Thinking (20%)

Based on b. and c., I will demonstrate a strong understanding of material by creating processes to understand new learning that comes from all domains.

The first example demonstrates, my contribution to the ideas being shared, as it relates to the next steps item on our agenda.

The second example illustrates the thinking behind, the different ideas regarding the goal for our survey. From this brainstorming sheet we were able to construct an idea for how the survey would be conducted.

After analyzing this quote, I was able to describe how my interview related to our theme. Moreover, it demonstrates that I contributed to the shared ideas of my group.

The data analysis illustrates the process of how we shared data. With this, we were able to create a successful analysis that explained our findings.

The Engaging Young Adults Scrolly Telly, was another article for examplorary work. My paragrapgh illustrates the influence of sample testing as it relates to the exposure college students like myself are getting. We were able to asses all levels of TDS, PH, and Oxygen.

Here is another example of how I used note cards to add bullet points of the infromation that wasn’t directly on the slide. It gave my audience more knowledge regarding my topic when speaking about sampling.

Here was the digital project that I contributed in making. I was able to work with a web developer to asses formatting for boxes and information. Throughout this process, I was able to learn how to code information where it’s interactive.

Michigan Water School was a article that I selected and introduced to my group. I was able to come up with discussion questions that led to conversation around implentations we could use for our research.

Civic Engagement (20%)

Based on a. and c. I will apply structures and connections to demonstrate collaborative work.

In Source Analysis 5, I effectively applied my knowledge and thinking regarding the ethics associated with the Bridge Wall in Detroit. From the assignment, I was able to inform others about the influence of a scrolly-telling, in regards to a historical race issue.

Here I was able to evaluate how stakeholders implemented instruction, as it regards programs. The goal was to bridge the gap regarding water literacy, making it easier for government officials to understand. Ultimately, I kept this source for inspiration to demonstrate examples of how work can be implemented through officials who might lack water education knowledge.

Written Communication 15%

Another, example would be the survey questions that I’ve conducted after meeting with Anna. From here, we able to identify the purpose and process for how the survey would be conducted.

Here in Lab 2, I was able to write a pargraph assesing our fings regarding water quality. This work examplfies information literacy because it demonstrates an effective observation. With that, I was able to report data while explaining it’s signifcance.
