My Goals

Major: Right now I am a nursing major but I am not positive if I should continue to pursue it. I chose nursing because I’ve always been interested in helping others and making sure those around me are okay, I also love kids and the development of their minds, with the how, why, when, and what of why they do things that they do.

Career Interests: If I do choose to continue down my path I do plan on being a Nurse Practitioner and owning my own family practice and eventually retiring so that I am able to eventually teach in a nursing school. My nursing degree is an essential part to being a nurse because without the framework before nursing school things might not be what they seem to be.

Courses Completed

Chem 120A: Gen, Org, & Bio Chemistry/ Chem 124A: Gen, Org, & Bio Chemistry Lab

Chemistry towards the end was majority memorizing your elements what they do, their placements, and how they all flow together. I have a better understanding of the world (almost) in what makes things the way they are and how everything is connected in a way.

ENG 111: Introduction to Literature (FAME)

In my FAME class, I learned a lot of new things about my culture and background that will eventually shape and mold me into the woman I plan to be in the future. The literature we were taught played a major key in our history because unfortunately, that is the little of what we have left to show who we are as people.

CODE 120: Research Team I & II

I was shown community and new aspects of life to appreciate and consider when I walk through life. I enjoyed seeing and talking to those who played a major role in that class.

BIOL 140: Human Biology

Human Biology taught me the many ways that our body works and sometimes why our bodies choose to stop working, In general, it was showing us THE workings of our bodies and the effect of things with the way the world is going.

PSYCH 111: Foundations of Psychology

The main thing that stuck with me in psychology is the biological basis of behavior, including the brain and nervous system, genetics, and hormones. Also, memory how we acquire, store, and retrieve information.

CODE 123: Research and Systems Thinking

Throughout this class we have been shown all of the different research techniques, the reason for research, how to conduct research, and even reading and understanding research from the naked eye.

Future Courses (that I know of for sure)

Chem 120B: Gen, Org, & Bio-Chemistry/ Chem 124B: Gen, Org, & Bio-Chemistry Lab

I hope to get a better understanding of what goes into all of the chemistry around us and in us that all ties into biology and also understand why we are learning this instead of just gathering the information form the class.

CODE 220: Community Engagement with Science

I honestly do not know what to look forward to in this class because it is something I have never heard of nor considered learning about.

CODE 221: Research Team II

For our research team, I plan to learn from our mentees and apply it to what I am doing in my everyday life and continue to evolve and grow throughout the program.
