CODE 121: The first artifact from my first semester that I would like to share would be the work we did to prepare for our mentorship program, more specifically, the presentation we gave at the showcase. We worked extremely diligently to ensure that all of our slides and work seemed presentable and easy to understand for those who came to support and show appreciation. We are proud of all of our work and everything we put into this so that we can give to others and help those around us. We started off overwhelmed and confused but to see how everything is now falling into place really warms our hearts. I expected school to be overwhelming (which it was), but with a great amount of time management and patience with myself I got it done happily (not a lot of downtime lol). One of the biggest challenges I experienced during my first semester of college was getting used to the increased workload and academic expectations. I found it challenging to adjust to the new academic and social atmosphere as I tried to manage my time well, combine my academics with other obligations, and make the transition from high school to college. Gratefully we finished this first year and did pretty well. Throughout this year I have learned the true definition of community and togetherness through the eyes of others from my Research team, which I really enjoyed. In the future, I want to start putting myself first even though I am a student and my life should be based around preparing for my future, it is really hard to know exactly what you want when you are constantly doing things for others and not trying to learn yourself again in this new environment and new people.
CODE 123: Honestly, this has been a very challenging year with a lot changes that I had to adapt to. At the moment I am studying nursing but I have been having second thoughts and want some type of change in my life, I want to try to push through (my main goal), but honestly my love for nursing just hasn’t been the same for me due to school. I unfortunately do not have any goals for my major at the moment but to simply figure out what it is I want to do and push through that. A lot has changed due to my new atmosphere and the new discoveries over the year. My biggest accomplishment at this moment has been pushing through school, even though it is the bare minimum for some I want to thank and congratulate myself for finishing the year because it has been an up hill battle to say the least. My outlook on community I wouldn’t say it changed it evolved into a mature point a view, as if every little thing is a community even if it is unsaid.
