My Goals

My major is Psychology with a minor in Chemistry and Sociology. I chose my major because I am interested in how the mind works and why people make the behaviors they do. Because of this I thought that sociology would be a great minor to choose. I chose chemistry as another minor because for my career, I want to do research within the field so I thought that having that would make me more qualified to hire.

To be more specific, I want to really want to do some type of research on differences of the sexes. The reason why this is important to me is because most scientific research has been conducted on men and I feel this underplays women in our society. Also, I believe that women have different needs than men and conducting intersex research does not make it accurate to either sex. I think it is important as we move forward as a society that we implement more scientific research done on women.

Courses I have completed currently are CODES 120 & 121, Intro to Philosophy, Intro to Sociology, and Foundations of Psychology. In CODES 120 I learned more about the research on water equity I will be conducting for my time at Uni and the historical backgrounds behind our local context. In CODES 121, I learned more about how to be a scholarly reader/listener/presenter and the importance of organization. In Philosophy, I learned about semantics, morality, perception, and multiple philosophers arguments on these topics. In sociology, I learned about common issues in sociology and why people do the things they do. In Psychology, I learned the basics of psychology such as ways of treatments, diagnosis, and thought processes.

Next semester, I am going to take Chemistry & lab, Social class & Inequality, CODES, and Careers in Psychology.
