Codes Learning Outcomes
Around this time of the school year, I believe every student finds it hard to set boundaries and getting to learn a new schedule. Personally me, I know for a fact I don’t like change. I’m always so used to leaning towards things that I’m already familiar with. With CODES, I know change will be for the better. I am determined to allow myself to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. Let’s dive into my goals and why I’ll be making these choices.
To begin with, I choose oral communication 8b. I feel like oral communication is extremely important especially with working with others. This will be very important while being in CODES considering the fact that we’d be working as a group most of the times. If something doesn’t feel right to one another I definitely believe speaking up would resolve any problem. Clear communication makes it able to work together professionally and easier. I’ve never been the type to bite my tongue for anyone in a good and I guess you can say bad way, but not really. With that being said, I also choose 8c. Appropriate delivery techniques are also a key factor of oral communication. I’m not going to lie, I struggled with this technique for a while. Being a person with “no filter” I never thought about the way I say things could offend people. I personally wouldn’t want to work with someone who has bad tone and delivery techniques, and I think we all could agree to that so it’s really important to keep in mind how you say things to others.
A second major technique for me is problem solving 9b. Problem solving is an everyday thing for our society. Without an answer to a problem there’s no way we’d be able to understand the essential idea of the question. Even if a person feels like they don’t think they know how to answer a challenging question, I believe asking more questions relating to the main idea would be a great start to getting to an answer. There are plenty of ways to look for answers. Technology is an easy way, but for me I like to solve and find things on my own. Identifying and learning the problem is also a great factor. You can’t find a solution to something if you don’t understand the essential idea. One last approach to solving a problem which is really important is having a plan.
I believe real legit information is a strong key factor to become informed. This is why I choose to present information literacy 5b. As a gen z, we mostly get or see information on a familiar social media app called TikTok. The information is not always right though, that’s the tricky part. You should never want to misinform a person with false facts. It is very important that we search for things on appropriate sources such as google. NO WIKIPEDIA! A lot of authentic facts come from our textbooks. That’s also another old school source that works perfectly fine and is well-designed to help us learn. Even receiving information through eachother is also a great source.
My last learning outcome that I choose will be written communication 13 c. Language is a beautiful art in our world. There are over thousands of languages spoken around the world. One main source we use to communicate is through speaking. With speaking it comes in many different languages as stated. There could possibilly even be language barriers because we all don’t speak just one language. We have to speak with as much fluency and clarity for people to undersand us. We can do thtat by revising our vocabulary that way we have the chance to communicate freely and open-mindedly.
In conclusion, today I talked about 5 important learning outcomes that I would like to practice for CODES. Oral communication, appropriate delivery technques, problem solving, and information literacy are very important essentials for every college student. With these factors, we will all manage to have a great semester. I feel as if these 5 techniques wil help me become a strong, demure, and mindful student. Hopefully these techniques are also helpful for my fellow classmates/peers.
