- Major: Political science with a minor in Pre-Law.
- I decided to major in Political Science with a minor in Pre-Law because back in 2018, my grandmother passed away. My mother could not physically attend her funeral due to her citizenship status which devastated me the most seeing her hurt. That was probably the first and last time I had ever seen her like that. The day of my beloved abuela funeral came, my mother had no choice but to see her mother be buried through a Messenger FaceTime call. After that day, I immediately knew helping undocumented people, like my mother and the rest of my family, was something that I would love to do.
- Career interests: I would like to become an Immigration attorney and later open my own law firm. My major is important for helping me meet my career goals because Political Science gives us a solid understanding of government systems, laws, and policies. This background could allow me to flow through and understand the legal system effectively.
- Courses Completed:
- Physical Geography: I learned quite a few things in this class. We mainly focus on Biogeography which I really enjoyed learning about.
- Anthropology: I absolutely loved this class. We talked about human life in a deeper level. There were numerous of days that I had walked into this class and left with so many new information. My favorite topic discussed during this class had to be related to Political Science.
- Research Team I-CODE-120: I learned how to work in groups effectively. In this class, we did a lot of reading and writing which helped advanced my communication skills. We practice public speaking as well.
- Transdisciplinary Comm-CODE-121: This class mainly focused on writing. I learned to enhance my writing skills and presenting skills.
Future Courses: I would love to enroll in courses pertaining to Political science and my minor as well. I also found interest in enrolling in a Spanish class to better my writing and speaking.
