First-Week Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I chose these five goals to overcome, because I personally believe these goals will help me become a better person and a better student. To start off, I chose 1a which indicates \u201cdemonstrating ability and commitment to collaboratively work across and within community and structures.\u201d This goal is very important while working with others. This goal will help me work as a group better and see the dos and don\u2019ts as a group member. I chose 11a, which states, \u201cEvaluates texts scholarly significance to apply reading to other contexts or issues\u201d. This goal helps me understand the importance relevance of a work piece. I can determine its impact and see how it contributes to the source of field we\u2019re referring to. Goal 13b: \u201cUses appropriate, relevant, and compelling content to illustrate mastery of the subject, conveying the writer’s understanding, and shaping the whole work\u201d. This one is by far my favorite and most exciting goal I have for myself. I say this because I am so big on tone and delivery. To know me is to know I\u2019m super big on communicating because that is how stuff gets done and we must have that one uncomfortable conversation to understand each other\u2019s point of views. The last goal I chose is \u201c8a: Uses clear organizational patterns and is skillful at presenting content cohesively\u201d. It is very important to stay on top of your work and keep your files organized, especially working as a group because not everyone has the same tasks as you. I am personally super excited for our Lab projects. I feel as if this project will help me, and my group members become more closer and develop and meaningful connection with each other. The scrolly telling project might be the most challenging just because we would have to present it which is by far the hardest thing to do at least for me in a project. Some strategies I want to set for myself to make this semester a success is not allowing the things I cannot control affect and reflect on what I do want to do. I also want to stop PROCRASTINATING! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midterm Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The skills I\u2019ve learned so far is definitely patience. I find myself getting upset with things that I can’t control,but I have definitely gotten better with this. Time is key with this skill. The skill I\u2019m working on the most is time management. I\u2019m still a little shaky about it, but I feel as if I\u2019m doing a great job for right now. I struggled the most first semester, however I found many different ways to help with this skill. I enjoy our daily check-ins before diving into our discussions. It gives me a chance to express how I feel after a really long weekend or just in general. It also makes me feel like Dr.Martinez genuinely cares about me and the rest of her students outside of CODES and she cares to know how we’re doing outside of school work. I would like to continue to develop time management and engage more with my project outside of our class. A goal I have yet to meet would probably be being active on top of my work. I wouldn’t say I start on assignments late but there’s times where I found myself rushing to get assignents done. I would like to start using my planner more to help me with this. I plan on becoming more engaged on campus as well. For example, staying on campus more than I need to instead of just coming to my classes. I dont’ feel as connected because of the fact that I commute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As the semester ends, it is time to reflect seriously on my initial goals and how far I have come. My goal this semester was to expand my vocabulary, and I did just that. Although I believe that I have gotten better at adjusting my tone and voice to suit different assignments, the most surprising to me has been how significantly learning about the audience impacts the effectiveness of my writing. In the future, I would like to carry forward the lesson that adaptability and sensitivity to the audience are the greatest determinants of successful communication. To achieve this, I would use my past research on purpose and audience of writing to read sample texts carefully and then get feedback on how to better suit my approach. After me and my group created our survey, I learned that our audience responses depend on the type of questions we ask which goes along with my goal of understanding my audience better. I will say, my group helped me get better at my goals and work on them as well. I learned how to stay patient and have simple conversations with my peers that don\u2019t lead to arguments. That really surprised me knowing that I used to not take constructive criticism too well. What do I want to remember to take with you into your future courses? I would like to remember almost everything that Dr. Martinez has taught me. If it wasn\u2019t for her kindness and genuine soul, I do not believe I could have been able to finish off as strong as I did. Dr. Martinez made sure before every class to see where our heads were at and even met with us individually to make sure we\u2019re okay. She helped me learn a lot about our world\u2019s wicked problems. She helped to open a third eye that allowed me to see how our generation should involve ourselves in more nature activities. Her desire and passion for geography allowed me to stay in tune in my group project about water conservation. I would like comprehensive strategies to use to continue developing my goals for the future. I will state again, being on top of my work will be another strategy that I will be using more in the future to developing toward my goal. This has been an amazing school year and I\u2019m hoping and praying for a better one next fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
