Alexandra Guerrero is in her second year at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she is majoring in public health with a minor in business administration. At her university, she is part of Community-Oriented Digital Engagement Scholars (CODES), an honors program that covers your tuition for all 4 years. She was inspired to change her major to public health through her research in CODES and wanted to make a difference by helping people. She grew up in a small town in the Heart of Dixie, Alabama, where her community always helped each other. She was always very involved with her community, helping with events representing her Hispanic community, from translating to cleaning up and setting up. She hopes to further her education and earn a PhD in public health, where she can use it to work with communities and organizations to host events that help people understand why their health is important and the changes we, as communities and individuals, can make to improve our overall way of life.
