Introduction
I was able to learn a lot in this first semester. I learned a lot about the MOBOT and its history. I enjoyed being in our research team and collaborating together to figure out how we all work with each other. I struggled with staying on top of things, I procrastinated and wasted my time doing other things and when the time came, I was behind. I tried to excel in most of my goals.
Goal 1 (20%)
“Taking risks in approaches to learning and to create new knowledge.”. (20%)
I wanted to add the knowledge document that we have used in Dr. Jack’s research team because in the document I would say things that I thought were a good idea. Most of them are questions about what we should be asking the people at MOBOT so that we can get more information.
Goal 2 (20%)
“Uses compelling, appropriate delivery techniques.”. (20%)
I chose to add my analysis from the chapter 3 of Sustainable World because I was able to deliver the correct information towards whomever reads my writing. I was able to take the reading from the book and summarize it for the reader to understand easier.
Goal 3 (20%)
“Identifies and evaluates multiple approaches for solving problems.” (20%)
I wouldn’t say that I have a piece of evidence for this goal, it is more of us discussing in our research group. In class we speak a lot about how we can improve the knowledge we are going to consume at MOBOT. The last week of October we spoke about how to invite the new members into our group without a problem.
Goal 4 (20%)
“Reads using an appropriate lens and can engage in a continuing dialogue within and beyond a discipline or a community of readers.” (20%)
Added my first MC which had information about wicked problems. From reading and doing more research in the past weeks I feel like I can have a genuine conversation with an individual and bless them with how wicked problems are everywhere and what people can do to overcome them. I also don’t believe that I touched much on this goal this year because we haven’t really presented to a general public.
Goal 5 (20%)
“Uses language to skillfully communicate with clarity and fluency.” (20%)
I chose to add my video of my reaction because I was able to talk about my opinion, however I don’t think this a very good piece of evidence to show that I can communicate with others with clarity because most of my evidence should be recorded in class. I have a good feeling that I can get good information across with it making sense when speaking to my research team.
Introduction
In this second semester I was able to learn more about MOBOT than the first semester. We split into little sub-groups in our research teams to look into the question we want to focus on. My group chose to ask about adding a class that will teach the history of the garden and the enslavement that took place. We all felt like this information needs to be taught to the community to show some more history about the garden.
Goal 1 (20%)
“Taking risks in approaches to learning and to create new knowledge.”. (20%)
We had a google meet with individuals that are a part of the garden and my group asked certain questions that allowed us to add more information to our slideshow that we presented last Wednesday. I do not have a video of the time we asked questions but in our slideshow the part about collaboration with a group that the garden already has is the information we got.
Goal 2 (20%)
“Uses compelling, appropriate delivery techniques.”. (20%)
Again, in this I do not have physical evidence, but I think that the presentation I was able to express to the individuals listening how we plan to work together and make our question become a reality.
Goal 3 (20%)
“Identifies and evaluates multiple approaches for solving problems.” (20%)
This is a goal that I think I accomplished very well. In our group we used a Necessary Knowledge document that allowed our research team to add our thoughts about what we can do to help our Wicked Problem.
Goal 4 (20%)
“Reads using an appropriate lens and can engage in a continuing dialogue within and beyond a discipline or a community of readers.” (20%)
I want to talk about conversations that I’ve had with my family about what we are doing in class. When I was able to make it home my parents would ask me questions about what we were doing in class that related to MOBOT and I would walk about the stuff that we are working on (such as the presentation). I was able to carry on the conversation and give them information about MOBOT which I learned from Dr. Jack’s class.
Goal 5 (20%)
“Uses language to skillfully communicate with clarity and fluency.” (20%)
This goal I think I was able to achieve because during our presentation I was able to get up in front of the individuals listening and speak fluently without stumbling on words. I was able to clearly express what my group was working on and how we plan to make sure that our question can be answered.
