For my first semester animal research project, I looked at a bunch of species found in southern Illinois, learning about their habitats, diets, whether they’re native or invasive, and the pros and cons of each. Some of the animals I studied include salamanders, dragonflies, opossums, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, black bears, ground squirrels, raccoons, groundhogs, coyotes, cardinals, hummingbirds, tree frogs, blue jays, red-tailed hawks, and striped skunks. After comparing my research with my team, I decided to focus on three threatened amphibians: the Eastern Narrow-Mouth Toad, the Bird-Voiced Treefrog, and the Illinois Chorus Frog. The goal of this project was to figure out which animals would best fit for our plan, and now that I’m sharing this with the JJK, the plan can move forward and succeed
